Well run, well staffed and a FANTASTIC venue (Vancouver Convention Center/Olympic Media Center)to launch Organic Lime Plaster Mantles

...meaning we have been commissioned to create travertine wall panels, big panels 5' x 7'.
The project is at 601 Broadway, an 1970's office tower in need of an update to the interior of the lobby.
Since it needs to be marketable, meaning the buildings age can't be a deterrent to potential customers/lessors and it is important to be current in order to compete in the commercial rental business in Vancouver. Since it is a very competitive market place.
The existing Travertine is impossible to match from a quarry today
- therefore Distinct Interiors has been asked through the use of Lime Plasters to create a match.

Due to the height and two levels of the vaults. the moisture and drying temperatures varied - Intonachino in the process of drying.

...Next: everything goes back in place, new carpets, lights and furniture.
Tilano ChalkboardPaint makes it's appearance on... Extreme Makeover Home Edition We are listed under the Coloring Room drop down button.
In this episode of EMHE, the design team put together a group of local artists to pull off some creativity for a special cause, Artistic Licence Design Group
This is how it happen for them: "2 Years ago, Cattle Rancher Brian and Pre-school teacher, Audra, were told that their 11 month old son, Jhett needed a heart transplant. His chances of survival were very slim. Miraculously, an organ donor was found and Jhett received a new heart. Although today he runs and plays like any two-year-old boy, Jhett and his family face a lifetime of expensive treatment and health issues. The home built with love by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Ideal Homes, as well as countless volunteers will provide a safe and healthy environment for little Jhett, as well as his big sister, Merit, to continue thriving.
Artistic License Design Group was honored to be given the opportunity to join with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team in providing hand-painted murals for the Skaggs family. ALDG proved it's versatility as a collection of talented Oklahoma muralists and finish artists who have created art in fine Oklahoma homes and businesses since 1970. Producers of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition asked ALDG to provide a dozen artists to create murals in two rooms of the brand new Skaggs home, and in the true "Okie Spirit" of giving, it was easy to find artists willing to lend their talents to this worthy cause. The artists worked under very unusual, often difficult circumstances, and within a 24-hour deadline. Much consideration was given to the design concept of each mural by the design producers, on-camera designers, and ALDG designers Tara Feuerborn and Amanda Joy Wells. After several rounds of refinement, the designs were ready to move from paper to paint."
The paint Artistic License Design Group used for little girls room Merit, was Tilano Chalkboard Paint.
Coloured ChalkboardPaint Back in 2008, I was working on kids murals and thought wouldn't be great if you could make the kids murals interactive with the kids, let them write and create their own designs on the walls too. 'Necessity is the Mother of invention.'
Thus we created Tilano Coloured Chalkboard Paints.
Last week we started on a larger project, a client requested a Lime Plaster ceiling installation.
Not a problem, but it is rather challenging, since the architecture of the ceiling consists of 2 barrel vaults, 22' high!
We are applying several coats of Intonachino Lime Plaster in a distressed effect.
Some pictures of the work in progress - oH, yes that is not our work on the ceiling below, that is the lovely wonder if the early ninety's, sponge painting! Set up 1st coat of Intonachino Lime Plaster to the ceiling
Doesn't it feel great to be Canadian! What a two weeks Vancouver and Whistler put on to the World, eh. There is no need for me to recap the incredible nationalism and incredible success of our Canadian Olympic Team, I'm sure we all witnessed that!
It was simply a pure joy to behold and be a part of - as a CANADIAN. I had the distinct pleasure to meet a few of our medalist, ...here they are....BRAVO LES CANADIAN!
Jennifer Botterill, Gold Women's Hockey ....and yes Gold HURTS... but it is WORTH it!
Maelle Ricker, Gold in Snowboard Cross. West Vans own!
Mike Robertson, Silver in Snowboard Cross. I told him he looks like Hugh Grant.
They forgot to light the Torch!...got run ...pick up the trowels and back to the work....
It's once in a lifetime event, therefore I'm putting down the trowels and tools (a little bit) to soak up the Games, I will share a little of living in the host city for the Olympics for the next two weeks.
This past weekend was beyond expectation for us as a family. The Olympics are Fun.
Everywhere we went national pride is alive! Of course we love the CANADIAN pride. But seeing all of the other nations and colours, too cool!
Riding the new Translink/subway downtown was a hoot since everybody on board was so friendly and full of good cheer.
Sunday, in the aft we walked the seawall from Yaletown (Live City Venue) to Sochi (Russia House), the only disappointment was the lines ups, killer sunny day equates to killer line ups. No problem, we can come back another day since it's all in our hood.
Sunday night we went the first awards ceremony at BC Place, it was fantastic! The awarding of the medals was very compelling and the concert afterward from Nelly Fertado, was really good. Not a fan but the show was perfect for the first night of awards.
Afterward the crowds spilled onto Robson Square for the light show and celebrations were on since we one our first Gold, bien fait Alexandre Bilodea!
The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games start in 2 days! The pressure was on this past week to complete this contemporary mantle in time to entertain quests, mission accomplished.
