You may be new to Tilano and our blog, if you are welcome and if you're not, welcome again. I'm asked from time to time, how did Tilano come about? The answer is simple, I have had the good fortune of being invited into 100's of homes in recent years ( and still do ), since my core business is being a professional interior deocrator. More specifically a decorative artist, 'I make new rooms look old and old feel new' - helping my customers achieve a feeling/statement in a room with colour and textures.
The bonus for me, is that I work with some of the most talented interior designers in Vancouver, BC. I see some of the latest in design trends, as well as very creative interiors. But one thing resonates in every home I'm in, pictures. I see all sorts and realize that Tilano is a great alternative to the mass production of traditonal framing trends that are available at your local gifts store and the Big Box chains.
I always try to be different when creating an interior theme and the same for Tilano ideas with pictures. Different, not for attention, but because we can and it is great to express creativity in ways that make people say, "I love that." That is what Tilano is about, thinking differently about the way we display life's moments and the way we incorporate them into your homes and lives.
As I learn with my kids and share, creativity is a unique process. One of the books I refer to for craft projects is The Best of Making Things, by Ann Sayre Wiseman. A very good resource for ideas, simple projects for the kids
and parents.
Ann lists "Permissions" for the kids, sometimes I think it is for the adults too! Needless to say, they are good for all.
