It's Busy by the Bay, BTW
San Francisco is Booming!
At least it was last week. My trip was short and sweet, three days of R&D on Lime Plasters and Cheng Concrete. Mix in a little site seeing and there was much time for anything else. If you haven't heard of Cheng Concrete, then check out his site, very creative and takes concrete well beyond - concrete.
I know the doom and gloom is out there for the economies, but San Fran must be an economic island. Some of the restaurants we wanted to attend were 3 months in advance reservations! The streets were full of people, great pace to that city, love it.
As with most trips, plenty of tales and pics. Here are some quick snips of what we saw...

Watch out for the crack...

The Palace and Neiman Marcus ceilings, timeless presence and craftsmanship.
We have Jack's Salvage in Vancouver, but Berkeley has Omega Salvage, treasures await for your unique projects.
Mike Page, Style Lab. Too bad the website doesn't reflect the shop, very cool interior do check it out if your there.

Lime Plaster in the Californian sun, looks fantastic the colour was very rich and deep, telegraphing many shades. Your not getting that with acrylic stucco.

Stopped in Castro for coffee at Starbucks, I parked right in front of Harvey Milk's old camera shop. The store is now home to Human Rights Campaign, clean design with lot's of colour.

Eating when your away, always fun, sometimes expensive, sometime surprising, sometimes not so good. That said, the three I would recommend from this short trip....
1. Anchor Oyster Bar : Entrepreneurial Cuisine, Excellent
2. The Slanted Door : Big Business for Dining, Food was creative but a little on the Expensive side for what you receive
3. The Press Club : Wine Bar, contemporary wood interior cellar feel, we had very good selection of Pinot Noir's from Sanoma accompanied with stinky cheeses - perfect!
You can now follow along now that I have completed the Distinct Interiors
